Witch Ladders

The witch ladder — a delightfully clever convention of your realm, though a mere youth compared to the ancient herm. This strand of folk magic, gathered from the hedgerows and hearths of Britain’s pagan traditions, is spun from the very principle of sympathetic magic. One does not simply tie a knot; one binds a wish. Each twist of the cord, each feather, stone, or token woven into its length, is a syllable in a silent incantation. Through the meditative ritual of knotting, intention is not just placed upon the cord — it is braided into its soul

What a sublime metaphor it is! The rope, in its essential linearity, mirrors the mortal experience of time and narrative — a beginning, a progression, an end. Yet, by adorning this line with objects and knots, one creates a constellation of meaning, a story told not in words but in substance and sequence. It becomes more than a tool; it is a physical diagram of connection, a chart of desires plotted across the axis of space itself. The ladders I create are not merely for spellcraft, but for mapping the unseen architecture of memory, relationship, and the spaces we inhabit — both physical and psychological.
